Wallets and Buckets
To effectively manage shared finances, you need to track both where the money is and what it is intended for.
Wallets
A Wallet represents a physical or digital location where money is stored.
Examples:
- Cash: The physical money in your pocket.
- Bank Account: Your primary checking account.
- Shared Pot: A physical envelope or digital sub-account used for group expenses.
In Incomy, every "In", "Out", or "Transfer" operation must be linked to at least one wallet.
Buckets
Buckets are categories used to organize your budget. While wallets track the "physical" location of money, buckets track the "logical" purpose of spending.
Examples:
- Food & Groceries
- Transportation
- Utilities
- Entertainment
When you create an operation, you can assign it to a bucket to see exactly where your project's money is going in the reports.
